Keep Your Options Open
Creating a plan to internationalize and diversify your life isn’t something you should undertake as a reaction against someone else. It’s something you should do for yourself, to protect yourself, your family, and your assets.
When he was in office, I met countless Americans who were planning to leave the United States because of Obama. They didn’t like his politics or his policies, and so they decided they were packing up and going somewhere else.
Ditto when Trump was in the White House. And Biden.
And I know no matter who gets in on Nov. 5, same will go for them, too.
The problem with that kind of reactionary “planning” is that, by the time these folks get their plans in order, the object of their disdain could be history… out of office… six feet under… no longer a reason for an overseas move or anything else for that matter.
Fact is, it can take years to get your affairs in order to effectuate a move from your home country to another one, especially if you’re starting from ground zero. Re-organizing your business affairs, shifting and structuring or re-structuring your assets, organizing residency, finding a place to live… all of these things take time.
They can be accomplished quickly if you’re focused, but most people have other things going on in life that have to be managed as well, meaning these decisions and plans sometimes take a very long time to come together.
The real point, however, isn’t the time it takes to diversify your life internationally. The real point is that you should be embarking down this path for yourself and your family, because you want to take control of your future. Not because you want to run away from Trump or Harris or whoever.
My other real point is that, whatever you’re going to do, you need to get started today.
Before Biden was Trump, before Obama was Bush… Each played their part in scaring a different crowd into leaving the United States. Once Obama was out of office, some of those people I know who’d been planning to run stopped their planning. Same went for Trump in 2020.

Chances are they’ll return to those plans again if he wins the White House again this year. However, had they followed through and finalized their strategies when they started addressing them, they’d be in a much more flexible situation right now… and they wouldn’t have to worry about who’s been handed the keys to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue for the next four years.
That’s my goal for you with my Simon Letter service: to help you create a diversified life that gives you the flexibility you need and deserve so that no matter what is going on in your home country, no matter what is going on in your current country of residence, and no matter what is going on in the world at large, you will be nimble enough to sail through unaffected.
Politicians will come and go. Currencies will rise and fall. Economies will grow and struggle. Values will appreciate and sometimes collapse. But you won’t have to worry about any of it. You won’t be at the mercy of the bozos in power or of world events beyond your control. You won’t be reduced to organizing your life as a reaction against other peoples’ mistakes.
You’ll be able to sit back, not worrying, but watching. For opportunity and your chance to seize it.
Stay diversified,
Lief Simon
